LAKE TAHOE, CA

After our day in Mt. Shasta we spent the night in Redding, CA (very uneventful, we grabbed salads for dinner at the grocery store & got a great room at the Comfort Inn!). Then off we headed for Lake Tahoe! This was actually not on our schedule as we thought we would head to San Francisco afterwards but cities have been pretty challenging for "the rig" so from now on we will likely bypass them. Right now is downtime in Lake Tahoe as its between the summer boating season and winter ski season! Lake Tahoe is home to 9 world-class ski resorts and 1 unforgettable lake...so during those seasons it's nuts. We had a gorgeous drive through the mountains and stopped in the cute Gold Rush towns of Grass Valley and Nevada City. It's clear how much of the history is still preserved there...they are the cutest towns that we enjoyed wandering around in and had a yummy lunch in Grass Valley.

Never met an ice cream store he doesn't like! LOL!

Upon arriving in Lake Tahoe we booked a room at a beautiful resort on the water called Mourelatos Lakeside Resort...it's right on the water and owned by a Greek family and very tastefully decorated. We got a great deal since we got in late and left fairly early. The views we woke up to were absolutely amazing. The lake is about 8 feet down right now due to the California drought but still beautiful and pristine, so clear you can see right through it. We grabbed a coffee and took a gorgeous morning walk along the beach and were able to walk out pretty far...and the water was COLD! It was probably 50 this am and 55 later this afternoon! Of course we spent the day on the jet ski exploring the lake and couldn't believe we were some of the only people out on the lake! The water was so glassy and smooth it was unreal. We kept saying.. "how lucky are we!?!?!"

We checked into a new place tonight called the Red Wolf Lakeside Lodge that includes a sitting room AND full kitchen! We cooked our favorite salmon, potatoes, & roasted veggies. So nice to have a home cooked dinner! We will likely stay in Lake Tahoe another day before heading out again...next location TBD!
