Spokane

We flew into Spokane late on Wednesday night and stayed at an airport hotel since we didn't get in until 11pm and we had to pick up the car and trailer on Thursday am. On Thursday we decided to spend another night in Spokane to check out the downtown area and get organized again since we had been on hiatus for 2 weeks. We had several recommendations to stay at the brand new Davenport Grand Hotel - and grand it sure was! It's absolutely gorgeous and it felt like we were in Vegas or NYC...not Spokane! The hotel opened in June and has 716 rooms so it is huge too. We had a great overnight and enjoyed happy hour on their rooftop bar and then an amazing dinner at a restaurant just blocks from the hotel. We rode our bikes all day on Thursday around Manito Park, which is the top rated place to visit to in Spokane per Trip Advisor...and after going there we definitely agree! Manito Park is a public park with 5 gardens- 1) Rose Garden, 2) Japanese Garden, 3) Duck Garden, 4) Perennial Garden, and 5) English Countryside Garden. While all of the gardens were beautiful the English Countryside one was the most amazing- it felt like we we on the grounds of a castle! We had a nice lunch at the park's restaurant, The Park Bench and it was great to explore the area on our bikes! We got on the bikes again on Friday am again to see Riverfront Park which is right across from the Davenport Grand. It's over 100 acres and is known for its great views of Spokane Falls, being the site of the 1974 World Fair, being the home to the famed Riverfront Park carousel,  IMAX theatre, amusement park, gondola ride over the falls, clocktower, ice skating rink (during the winter) and so much more!
